Have you ever felt that the life you were living, just wasn't your best life? Not that I don't feel much gratitude for the blessings I have but something more real. Lately, I have been feeling quite unsettled. Not sure if it's the fact that I am quickly approaching 30 or what started this feeling deep inside. I have felt that my life just isn't fulfilling enough. I know, I know, you must think I am some kind of high maintenance person, what don't I have in life that I already have. But what I am talking about runs much deeper than anything on the surface. I have this strong, overwhelming feeling to do something that will define me as a person, that will bring some kind of change and something better to myself. I see other people being allowed the opportunities to serve others so diligently and to offer them a better life because of that service. I am finding myself needing to connect with the people of this world, okay maybe even my own community. I am pretty sure the best thing we can do with our time is to serve those around us. Christ was the best example of serving those in need and giving of his time so fully. I know being a mother of four is a non stop service but more often than not it's a thankless service. I am supposed to care for my kids and to make sure their every need is met. So what I am craving, is something more. I am craving a connection much deeper than any other relationship has brought me. And no one should take offense to this, not even my husband. But really it's about me as a person and what I would like to share with those who need me. Because sometimes our own feelings run deeper than we understand and can comprehend. I am not recieving the spiritual connections I wish to be feeling. This doesn't mean I don't believe in my faith. I think I have allowed the imperfections of myself and others around me to affect my spiritual growth lately. I want to feel good inside from helping someone or making them happy. There is so much hate and evil in the world that I want to radiate more love and hope, even if it was one person at a time. I want my kids to see my good deeds and want them to follow in those footsteps. As I contemplate my plans on this, I hope I am led to the opportunites I so wish to have. I am going to look for more opportunities each day to be of service to someone else. Because “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
"Let us ask ourselves the questions: “Have I done any good in the world today? Have I helped anyone in need?” What a formula for happiness! What a prescription for contentment, for inner peace—to have inspired gratitude in another human being." President Monson

Smarty pants
I needed {wanted} to write this down before I forget. Last week was my annual meeting with the gifted teachers at Caleb's school. I was quite impressed with all that they had to say about him. Caleb has an IQ of 149 and is very advanced in all of his subjects. His teacher Mrs. Boyles said its very rare that you see a student that is "gifted" in all subjects. Caleb made goals for the rest of the year and also for next year. He will do all of his core subjects in advanced or upper level classes next year. He wants to try out science olympiad, which is a class that groups up and participates in different science experiments. His electives are going to be his social classes. He likes drama and music class this year, so he will probably choose to do those again too.
In this meeting they go over test scores and also ask Caleb questions about his future.
The first question was "Where so you see yourself in 20 years?"
Caleb said : "Working as a CSI agent in a big city."
Question 2: " Do you see yourself living alone or with a family of your own?"
Caleb: "A family of my own, in a big city."
Question 3: "Do you have a specific college you want to go to?"
Caleb: "No not yet, I just know I want to go. Maybe Harvard."
Question 4: "What are some extracurricular activites that you might be doing?"
Caleb: "baseball"
Those were a few that I remember because I couldn't help but smile when he was talking about it. I know Caleb can do anything he sets his mind to and will go far if he follows his heart and stays true to God.
PS- I sure hope he chooses a different college, we might have to sell some vital organs to make that happen. heehee

Carly
Today Carly got tubes in her ears for her chronic ear and sinus infections. Everything went very well! How could it not the ENT doctor is in our ward and Mitch is his home teacher:) Dr. Clark is awesome and such a good guy, I have complete trust and faith in him. And he proved to me again why we love him.
Carly had to go in without breakfast so I was a little worried about it but it was so early she just did really good. After she woke up, she was a little foggy looking but when she saw Mitch and me, she just wanted to be held and I brought her some food and her sippy. All day she has been really happy and seems to be just fine.
Thank goodness for a good doctor and good nurses that took care of her for us. Hopefully we will see a decrease in her sicknesses.

Carly will barely hold still anymore for a picture. I had to trick her with my phone to get her to smile for me.
Last week we also found out that Carly is allergic to wheat. On the scale they use with 6 being the highest, she was a 5. She also showed a high intolerance to milk and egg whites. They were both a 3. So I dont have to completely eliminate eggs and milk from her diet but I have to limit them. I did however have to take alll wheat out of her diet. And if you look at all the products on the shelf in the store you will see that everything has wheat in it! Thankfully we just had a really great new store open called Natural Grocers/Vitamin Cottage. They had alot of gluten free products there for mr to replace some of her favorite things she liked to eat with. Its still a challenge but luckily we have been eating more cleanly and so it hasnt been a huge adjustment. Carly is doing well with it, so hopefully her nose will clear up more!

12 Month Check Up...
Carly had her 12 month check up yesterday. The moment we walked into the room, she began to cry. She has been through some traumatic experiences the past few weeks and so she automatically associates the doctor's office with pain.
Carly is however doing wonderful for her age, doing everything a little above schedule. She did have to get five shots, which was really awful! I felt so bad and after when we wer ein the car, she was saying "Owww" to Mitch and I.
Her weight was 19.15 pounds which is in the 30th percentile
Her height was 28.5 inches which is 50th percentile
Carly will be getting tubes in her ears on Tuesday. We are actually looking forward to it because we are hoping it really makes a difference in her congestion and ear infections. Hopefully everything will go well with it. Keep her in your prayers:)
Here is a picture of her five band-aids from her shots. Ouch!
{Isn't her belly button, oh so cute!}

Carly's new love...reading books. I keep a stack of them on her bottom bookshelf in her room, and she goes up there all the time to look through them and always enjoys when someone reads to her.

Here are the other kids at their 12 month appts.
Caleb 25 lbs, 32 inches
Aubrie 20 lbs, 30 inches
Brynley 18 lbs, 27 inches
{Carly 19 lbs, 28 inches}

A day in the life...
Of me! The past few days have been so busy with so much going on. I wanted to document it, just so I have proof to my kids that I did go above and beyond for them every single day. Not only am I their chauffer, maid, nurse, chef, but I try each and every day to meet their needs emotionally and mentally. I am there for them and I want them to know how hard it is to be a mom but I wouldn't change it for the world. They are my everything.

Ladies..
Aubrie wrote an essay for President's day last month and I thought it was very cute and wanted to share. Her teacher is so much fun, she brought different hats for the kids to wear and take pictures in:)
It says...
I want to be the first girl President,
Then I will protect my city, be great, talk to my people, be honest, be strong, be good to my friends, make good choices, be fair to others, dont smoke and dont do drugs.
Love it Aubs!

Just the girls this morning before school. Aubrie has picture day and so Brynley wanted to wear a dress and do her hair curly too.

One of my dearest friends Courtney, decided to take flight and start a new life up in Portland and is moving in a few days. We met up with Diana and Melissa for some lunch and reminising before she leaves. I wish her nothing but love and happiness, I will miss her!

Zumba!
So I have this friend...she's pretty amazing and she got me going to Zumba with her back in January. If you haven't ever tried it before you will LOVE IT! I promise, you will. It's by far the best workout I have ever done. In an hour long class I burned 734 calories! I had always wanted to try Zumba whe I was working out at the spa but felt a little intimidated about it because I am not a dancer. Just ask my husband. I lack a serious rhythm that is required for being able to dance-nicely. But I gave it a try and after the first class I was hooked. I leave every class looking like I took a shower because you sweat that much and you keep your hear rate up the whole time. I have dropped from a size 22 to an 18 {again}. I am not embarassed by those numbers, I am very proud of them! I have worked my tush off with zumba, and weight training since January. I have lost 9 pounds and I am proud of that too. I wish it was more but between nursing and having my dumb thyroid issues, this is what I have been able to accomplish. I am excited that I am almost donw nursing Carly and that I have scheduled an appointment with an endocrinologist in Albuquerque next week. Hopefully he will be able to find something that is missing with my thyroid crap. I am taking it all in stride.
I look forward to my new found love of Zumba every day that I get to go. It's not your typical workout and I think thats why i love it! Go here to see whats its all about, also there is a picture of me and Rachel, can you find us? :)
