FHE

Our family home evenings always vary- time, place, songs, lesson, kids cooperation.
Lately I have given both Caleb and Aubrie the responsibility to do a lesson for FHE. We all take turns since Aubrie can read now. Last night was Aubrie's turn to teach the lesson and be in charge or what we call "conducting". Aubrie assigned Mitch the opening prayer, Caleb the closing prayer and Bryn was the music chorister. Aubrie gave the cutest lesson on making sure we are honest and checking everything we have when we are paying for items at the store. She read us a story about a boy who noticed his brother was holding a bag of donuts at the store that his mother had missed during her checkout and what a good example the boy was for being honest and making sure his mom paid for the donuts. After she read the story Aubrie said "I remember that time that Brynley stole the piece of chocolate from the card store in the mall and mom made her go back in and pay for the chocolate and say sorry" Brynley got so hurt that Aubrie had mentioned this. Bryn got upset and almost started her meltdown until I chimed in and told them all their experiences they all have had with taking something that wasnt theirs. Its only happened a few times with them. Aubrie took a play flip phone from Walmart and Caleb took some candy from Target. I have marched them both back in to return the items and both times the person they were returning the items back to, weren't very nice to them about it. So maybe thats why they never did it again.
So back to last night, it was a nice FHE. Simple yet fun. We all are happy and glad that we sit down to take the time to learn and listen to each other. These little moments that we are together- laughing, singing and feeling the spirit are priceless to me. I know that Family Home Evening's were inspired by the prophet to help us be closer as a family here on earth. Oh and we are finally in the Book of Enos in the Book Of Mormon as a family. Yay.
